Dr. Cornel West will be on the ballot in North Carolina for the 2024 presidential race after all.

As reported by WRAL News, the decision comes after the State Board of Elections voted unanimously to approve his new “Justice For All” Party on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The board previously voted to turn down the party under suspicions of widespread fraud among efforts to get the required number of signatures to get the far-left activist & scholar on the ballot. However, a federal judge later ruled that the board was wrong in its decision, saying they didn’t have enough proof.

Rather than file an appeal, the election board decided to reverse its decision and allow Justice For All on the ballot.

The fight over Dr. West’s candidacy has been split mostly along party lines. Republicans have been petitioning for his addition on the ballot, mostly as a means of taking votes away from Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris in states where he appears on the ballot.

WRAL previously reported that the lawsuit against the elections board on Dr. West’s behalf was led by two prominent GOP attorneys. The initial decision split between party lines as well, with the Democratic majority voting to keep him off the ballot. The court ruling in West’s favor also came from a Republican judge.

As it stands, there will now be six presidential candidates on the ballot in North Carolina. In addition to Dr. West, Harris and Republican Donald Trump, other candidates include Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (We The People Party), Randall Terry (Constitution Party), Chase Oliver (Libertarian Party) and Jill Stein (Green Party).
