World Mental Health Day: Celebrities Speak on Mental Health

Today is World Mental Health Day, a global initiative to raise awareness and promote mental health care for all.
Today we’re highlighting the powerful voices of Black celebrities who have opened up about their mental health journeys, helping to break the stigma surrounding mental wellness in the Black community.
- Taraji P. Henson has been an outspoken advocate for mental health, particularly in the Black community. She founded the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in honor of her father, which aimed to provide resources and support for mental health services in underserved communities. Taraji has publicly shared her struggles with anxiety and depression, urging others to seek help when needed.
- Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, has candidly discussed experiencing “low-grade depression” during the pandemic. Her openness about these struggles has been a source of comfort for many, reminding us all that mental health issues affect people from all walks of life.
- Big Sean has also shared his personal battles with depression and anxiety, often reflecting on how therapy and mindfulness practices have helped him heal. Through his music and interviews, he encourages fans to prioritize mental wellness.
