Mo Money Monday: Collect Up to $100 from Apple’s Lawsuit

Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class action lawsuit over claims that its voice assistant Siri recorded users without their consent. The lawsuit, Lopez v. Apple Inc., accuses the tech giant of unintentionally activating Siri during private conversations and then sharing that data with third parties.
Some users say they were later served targeted ads related to what they discussed, including sensitive topics like medical treatments and specific brands — all without ever intentionally activating Siri.
If you owned or used a Siri-enabled Apple device between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, and experienced one of these accidental Siri activations during a private conversation, you could be eligible for up to $100.
Who’s Eligible:
You can claim up to $20 per device, with a limit of five devices. Eligible devices include iPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, and iPod touch.
Deadline to File:
Claims must be submitted by July 2, 2025.
How to File:
- Go to the official case website.
- Click “Submit Claim” and select “New Claim.”
- Enter your name, address, email tied to your Apple ID, and either a proof of purchase or the serial/model of each device.
- Confirm you experienced at least one unintended Siri activation during a private moment.
If you received an email or postcard with a Claim ID Code, use that to speed up the process.
The court will hold a final hearing on August 1, 2025, to approve the settlement and determine final payment amounts based on how many people file.
So if Siri’s ever been a little too nosey, now’s your chance to cash in.
